Drives
- Blue
Ridge Parkway- The
road that 19 million people a year travel on, the Blue Ridge
Parkway, has forty-six miles of the country's prettiest highway
running through Haywood County. The perfect place to pack a snack
and have a picnic at one of the roadside overlooks. Several trails
to hike and a day's worth of fun and exercise.
- Great
Smoky Mountains National Park- With over 9 million visitors a year,
the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most popular national
park in America. With 515,000 acres of protected land, this park
can provide a lifetime of exploration.
Parks and Waterfalls
Looking
Glass Rock- The picture below is of the popular rock climbing
site Looking Glass Falls. However, the rock is closed off to
climbing during Peregrine Falcon nesting seasons. The area is
a prime nesting site for the threatened Peregrin Falcon in the
southern Appalachians.
- Whitewater falls- At 411 feet, Whitewater falls is the
highest falls in the Eastern United States.
- Sliding Rock- A natural waterslide tucked away in
Pisgah National Forest. Slide or watch people slide down this
fun 60 foot natural waterslide.
Winter Skiing
- Cataloochee Ski
Area- Located in Maggie Valley, Cataloochee Ski Area
is a small and fun ski area with 9 slopes and trails ranging
from beginner to expert difficulties. It's suclusion provides
for the ultimate quality skiing experience. Lessons and rentals
are available.
Horseback Riding
- Adventure Trail Rides- Located in Waynesville. Four hour trips

- Cataloochee Ranch- Two hour and all days rides are available
for adults and children over six. Experienced riders accompany

- Queen's Farm Riding Stables- One hour and one 3/4 hour rides that
climb up to 1,000 feet. For adults and children six and over.

Resorts
- Maggie Valley Resort-
has been rated "One Of America's Best" by GOLFWEEK
and a "Top 50 Southern Resort Course" by the Southern
Living Travel Guide, one of only six courses so rated in North
Carolina. Beautiful, large bent grass greens are the finest in
the area. We keep them soft so good approach shots are rewarded.
